3 weeks and 4 days!!

Well, life has been pretty low key these last few weeks but since a rather impatient aunt (I won't name names) is not happy with the lack of posts lately, I will fill you in :) Today is actually my last day of work at good ole' First Service.. no more scanning and filing for this summer! So that's pretty exciting, but also a little frightening because I am realizing that my departure to Peru is approaching a LOT faster than I ever expected. Of course we all know that summer flies by, but the past 5 weeks since I graduated just went way too fast. I can't believe all that still needs to get done before I leave, and all the things I still want to do with friends and family one last time. But the next 3 are going to be a blur because I am leaving this Monday for what they call Pre-Field Orientation (PFO) in Mississippi for 2 weeks. I'm actually pretty excited for this... I hear you meet a lot of great people and make connections with other new teachers at all the other NICS schools. There will be about 150 new teachers there and the main purpose (I think) is to prepare us for the culture shock we will be facing very shortly and to familiarize us with the type of kids we will be teaching. So I'm hoping to learn a lot and to get to know the other new teachers going to Lima specifically. I think there are about 8 of us, which is really exciting because I think most of us are pretty fresh out of college and will be in the same boat. I'm hoping to find that I'm not the only one who isn't fluent in spanish! It's also a huge answer to pray that Amy Keyser, from Chelten, will also be going because she wasn't able to last week. She just finished her 1st year of teaching in Kenya, so I'm excited to hear all about her experience so far. We will both be flying down together, which just makes everything better! So if you think of me in these next two weeks, pray that it will be an awesome time to build relationships and to prepare mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for what is to come very very soon. I will definitely post with pictures once I get back on July 4th!

I'M THE IMPATIENT AUNT! And I ain't ashamed to admit it. Thanks for the update, Laur. Been thinking/praying about you a lot these days. Wish I could give ya a big squeeze before you leave. Hope you have a great time in M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I. (I like spelling it aloud.)

Hey Lauren, it's great to know how things are coming along! I've been checking in for a new entry too and I'm not even related... but then I seem to have a lot in common with the famous aunt.

I hope you have a great two weeks in Mississippi. Maybe you should there ARE a couple teachers fluent in Spanish... then you could hang out together and maybe get around more easily in Lima. But I know what you mean. You'll be fine.

Look forward to seeing pictures!

should hope... maybe you should hope. Ok now I'm gonna start getting paranoid about my mistakes, writing to a teacher and all...

LOL! Debbie, she's a biology major, not an English major. Your Daddy and Judy are the only ones to fear, my dear. Thanks for checking in with laur's blog. Chelten is commissioning her on sunday. Did she mention that in her post? don't think she did. Anyways, wish i could be there...

aunt lisa is right.. i'm definitely not the critic when it comes to English! But oh yeah, I completely forgot to mention the commissioning service in my post! guess i have a lot on my mind these days, but it was really special to have the family there and even some of my PSU friends who were in the area. But I was missing my aunt and big brother :(
