A Visual of my School in Miraflores

Just to show you where I will be teaching... the International Christian School of Lima is in this church building, The Union Church, on Avenida Angamos Oeste. My classroom is on the 2nd floor. I took these pictures when I was there in January interviewing, but I wish I got more of the surrounding neighborhood. I'll make sure I get some better ones in July.

laur, i love your blog. I am sitting here all teary eyed reading it. What an amazing journey. And i am even amazed at how well i am accepting this adventure of yours (and the Lord's). A parent couldn't ask for anything more than his/her child fulfilling God's plan for his/her life and that is why i am so thrilled for you! I love you with all my heart!!!!!!
We will be doing alot of skyping.

Hi Lauren!

What an exciting time for you! For some reason I've always wanted to visit Peru.

Tip for the Day: whenever I'm traveling to a Spanish Speaking country and haven't been there for a while I pick up a Reader's Digest (Selecciones) and a National Geographic in SPANISH and read them on the plane. If you can find them somewhere ahead of time, read them out loud. I mean you can do that on the plane and sitting around airports if you want to, but...

That's always helped to get my thoughts and tongue flowing again. I do the same thing with Portuguese when going to Brazil.

When you get there (or now if you get the right channels)... watch TV! News programs are good because the person speaking is always facing you (you can watch their mouth) and they usually speak clearly and correctly.

Well, those are my helpful thoughts for the day!

Enjoy! Debbie Murphy

(this could be confusing with 2 debbie's!) it's so comforting to know i have so much prayer support before I am even there. i know God has a lot to come and I'm definitely excited (and nervous of course)! but this will be a great way to keep in touch :) credit goes to Aunt Lisa for that.. she got me started and set it up initially!
