My Daily Entertainment...

So if I haven't mentioned this before, my students are pretty much amazing and they are definitely my entertainment every day. Here's a little taste of what keeps me laughing and loving my job on a night before a project is due in my tenth grade biology class, in which my inbox becomes flooded (ok maybe not flooded considering I only have 10 students, but you know..) with student emails...

EMAIL #1
Miss!!! I forgot to put the WORKS CITED PAGE in my Powerpoint!!
so I am sending you the corrected one!!   I'm sorry!!!

And..... ahhaha ("INSERT NAME HERE"... yes, this is my attempt at keeping my students' identity hidden) told me to tell you her e-mail and she wants to know what should she do for the interaction of the audience!
She just told me like that so if you want, send her an e-mail!!  I am really sorry!!!!

Thank you!!!!

EMAIL #2 (After not responding to one student soon enough)

EMAIL #3 (after my response...)

gotta love 'em :)

laur! what a riot they are. glad they bring you great joy. funny...we never communicated with our teachers like that. ah! the joys of modern technology, huh?

p.s. you better fix your blog before your big bro gets on you. your welcome message is after your most recent post title. he commented on how he couldn't see my post titles. i had changed the colors to eliminate the eagles (bleckh) and picked a similar color for titles to that of my bkgrnd. good thing he's around! gotta love that boy. *wink*

omg, those kids are hilarious. a.l. is right- emailing teachers like that would have been unheard of in our days...

by the way AUNT LISA, i did notice a while back that the welcome message is at the bottom, but chose not to say anything... :) don't wanna harp on my little sis too much

by the way laur, please explain the 3rd one. you are "nice and mean"? i don't speak teenybopper. just kidding.

jay, i think that the girl means laur is nice because she graded the quiz, but mean cause she didn't tell what she got. Am i close laur??
They are too cute. Wish we were going to be there when they were at the school.
I would love to meet some of them.

what is a "punnet square of Alzheimers" What the heck??

hey, and your blog looks different now. What did you do? I think some stuff if missing.
Sorry we are such critics. Me who wouldn't even try doing a blog!

i'm guessing a punnet square is some kind of method that could be applied to other topics, e.g. Venn diagram??? little help?

hahah let me help you all who have been out of biology for at least 12 years :) Jay you must not have paid attention when you had Zoccola (you had him right?? stubby??)
Punnett square is used in genetics to try to figure out if offspring will have a certain disease or trait based on what they parents have.. they were doing genetic research projects. and yes mom, you are right.. i am "nice" because i helped her with her project but "mean" because i didn't tell her her grade until class today, haha. hilarious.
and i know i changed my blog but i'm still working on it.. i don't like it right now but haven't had time to rearrange it.. patience patience mcnally's!

oh my...this is a land mine of info THIS family doesn't need. I'm going to conduct a Punnett Square myself on the genetic make up of grammy, your momma and uh...i dunno. i'll prolly i'll stop there.

take all the time you want to rearrange your blog, laur. i usually do it a few times a week. keeps everyone on their toes. it's especially fun to do when you don't have a new post. they log on and think they're getting something, when really all you did was move stuff around and color it up. here's a link for backgrounds and supposedly they don't interfere with your widgets. i haven't used them yet, because i'm afraid it'll just enhance my obsession and take it to another level to which i don't have time for.

wow. i don't feel i was too far off for a completely random guess. i would still like some more explanation of how exactly you go about that punnet square genetic thing...if it wouldn't require a long explanation of course. and yes, i did have stubby. can't remember one thing from that class except for a big evolution debate.

Lauren, due to your derogatory and politically incorrect term towards me, I have filed a petition with your program to have you repeat 10th grade biology class with me. you need to suffer some more from old stumpy.

Happy belated Turkey Day!

Glad to hear your kids can keep you laughing. I'll be honest though I think they need to add more emoticons to their e-mails, I'm not sure I'm getting the full message...I need more smileys!

You're almost there...23 days and counting!

-Mike

Mr. Zoccola, you have officially creeped me out once again just with the thought of your biology class and old stump.

Mike, I'll have to let them know they need a few more emoticons to fully express themselves.. the best part is reading the emails aloud and acting out each emoticon.. highly entertaining :)... well, that is for the teachers in my house whose only method of entertainment and fun is something school related. but yes, 22 days and counting!! Happy belated turkey day to you too!

Hi Lauren, I haven't chimed in for a while but I enjoy reading your entries!

Yes I lived with two teachers for a while and we got daily stories and laughs every day at supper.

are these Spanish speakers? Funny... way back when teachers in latin america were "seño" for señorita or señora. Now it has become Miss, and in Mexico it's Maestra. I'm sure you needed to know that.

Have a wonderful trip home!!

Haha Debbie that's funny.. yes a lot of these kids are Spanish speakers, but they are heavily influenced by the US because it's an run by Americans, so I guess they adopted "Miss" and "Mister" at some point. It's pretty adorable. I love it. It's not quite the level of respect I got during student teaching, that's for sure!
