Outreach Trip!

Well I still can't believe we actually just went to the orphanage Wednesday as a school. It was awesome. Honestly, I am so excited about what God is doing between ChildReach and ICSL. He is up to something.. I'm just not sure exactly what yet :) But I really think this is going to be a place for our students to invest their service and talents over a longer period of time, which is really exciting. Dave and the Peterson family at the orphanage are really interested in growing this relationship so we will definitely be looking to make another trip in the near future. I don't know exactly what God has in store, but He is definitely working in it all!

Overall, the trip was great. We were thrown a few curveballs when it came to doing our programs at each school, which led to it not going quite as planned, but it's okay... it was Peruvian style :)  We did the best we could under the circumstances and it was awesome to see so many of my students step up and show their gifts in that setting. They did a great job working on different jobs around the orphanage.. shoveling stone, painting, priming, peeling... and they seemed to really enjoy it. It was a really special blessing for me to be able to get to know some of my students outside of the classroom and spend time with them doing some of the same work that I did in January. I just felt like it was a personal blessing from God to be able to see the vision and desire He gave me in January carried out. Here are some pictures of my crazy students...

Dave giving the kids a tour of the site... reminds me of my Penn Staters from January :(

They LOVED painting.. especially getting it all over themselves, haha

Filling up the second water reclamation system for Hannah's Hope
Notice that this was the "man job" ... They loved it
Peeling the front wall to prepare for Eden & her art class to do a new mural next semester!

More boys doing some more shoveling!
Prepping for VBS on the porch

At the school... my 11th graders, Carolina, Natsuko, & Soo Min teaching the kids their choreographies

The drama, which was SO good.. I had no idea I had little actors & actresses in my classroom

and the bus ride home...

I'm thinking the day wore some of them out, what do you think?

Even Mr. Schlak!

Lindsay and Eden
haha and finally.. Jessica showin' off her guns

So overall, it was an amazing day! Thanks for all the prayers leading up to the trip and throughout the whole day. God was definitely faithful.

Lauren, what a great experience and opportunity for you and your students! Not only is being in a different country life-changing, but helping other people has an even greater impact. I have enjoyed following your experiences through your writing; as I am learning to teach in my own new environment, I daily think of you and how much different it must be to teach in a whole new country! But God is faithful and sufficient for all our needs. Keep it up! -bb
