Verse of the week

So I came across this passage yesterday...

"I will make rivers flow on barren heights,
and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert into pools of water,
and the parched ground into springs.
I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia,
the myrtle and the olive.
I will set pines in the wasteland,
the fir and the cypress together,
so that people may see and know,
may consider and understand,
that the hand of the Lord has done this,
that the Holy One of Israel has created it."
Isaiah 41:18-20

I don't know that I have ever related to these verses as much as I do right now. With school starting this Thursday, the past few days have been pretty overwhelming to say the least. I feel so incapable of what God has called me to do here, but it hit me on Friday during our staff worship time that this is exactly where God wants me. We sang about how we're complete when we're broken at the feet of Christ, and so I know God has not called me here because I'm capable. We always hear that He wants our availability, not our ability, and that is becoming quite a reality for me. These verses are a reminder to me that God is capable of creating something where there is nothing, and that He does this so HE gets the glory. I know myself well enough to know that if I was able to teach and minister to these kids effortlessly, the glory would go to myself. Well, God clearly knows this too, and we know He isn't willing to share His glory! So, to say the least, I have been very humbled these past few days as I realize just how much I need to lean on God's strength. Please continue to pray for physical, emotional, and spiritual strength, especially in this next week when I absolutely need it to start the school year well. Pray that this year would be a testimony of His strength being made perfect in my weakness, but know that I am encouraged by the truth that God is going to fill in the gaps, and He will "turn the desert into pools of water."
